Anderson Mill West Families and a Dental Office Down Old Mill Road
Anderson Mill West is a long-established neighborhood of about 1,376 homes. It sits in unincorporated land within Cedar Park's extraterritorial jurisdiction and is served by Williamson-Travis Counties MUD No. 1. Most of it lies in Williamson County, with the southern section across the line in Travis County, and homes on the Williamson side carry Cedar Park mailing addresses. It is a separate place from Anderson Mill, the former census community farther east that Austin annexed in 2008.
Streets here are named for native plants, including Dayflower Trce, Lobelia Dr, Buckeye Trl, Blazing Star Trl and Mimosa Pass. Sections were platted from 1984 through the mid-1990s, and the neighborhood elementary school on El Salido Pkwy opened in 1987. A Texas Historical Commission marker on that campus recalls the Cypress School, which settlers along Cypress Creek began as a log schoolhouse in the 1860s; its frame successor, built in 1877, served students until 1937. You can find the current school on its Leander ISD campus page.
Neighborhood life centers on green space. The Anderson Mill West park and pavilion sits near El Salido Pkwy, and Williamson-Travis Utility District No. 1 replaced its playground in 2015. Oakwood Glen Park, a city park with a pavilion and playscape, sits on the northern edge of Anderson Mill West.
A neighborhood this size has kids at every stage, from early elementary to Cedar Park High School just to the northwest on Cypress Creek Rd. That mix is why our office keeps a range of hours. Tuesday and Thursday appointments begin at 7:00 AM, before classes, and on Mondays and Wednesdays we are open until 5:00 PM for after-school visits.
Teens, Braces and Wisdom Teeth: Dental Needs in Anderson Mill West
The teen years bring a busy stretch of dental decisions. Crowding often shows up once the adult teeth are in, wisdom teeth start to develop at the back of the jaw, and stress or sports can lead to clenching and grinding. Tracking those changes with regular exams keeps them from turning into emergencies.
Orthodontic treatment is provided right here, with traditional braces, ClearCorrect, clear aligners and Six Month Smiles available. When wisdom teeth are crowded or impacted, Dr. Bowcutt performs tooth extractions, both simple and surgical, without sending families to a separate surgical office. IV sedation is available for oral surgery, and patients who choose it need someone to drive them home.
Grinding is easy to miss because it usually happens during sleep. Signs include flattened edges, sore jaw muscles in the morning or a partner who hears it at night. Our teeth grinding treatment options include custom appliances that cushion the teeth while you sleep.
Parents have their own needs, of course. Fillings placed years ago, early gum disease and the occasional cracked molar are common in adults, and we care for those at the same office as the kids. New patients facing a sudden problem can book our $49 emergency exam and x-ray.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Bowcutt Dental from Anderson Mill West, and how do I get there?
From the elementary school on El Salido Pkwy, Bowcutt Dental is about 2 miles away, roughly a 6-minute drive. Take Aster Pass north to Old Mill Rd, follow it northeast, then turn right on S Lakeline Blvd. Families looking for a dentist near Anderson Mill West can make the whole trip on local streets, with no highway or tolls.
Why are my teeth getting shorter and flatter?
Grinding or clenching, usually during sleep, is one of the most common reasons teeth wear down. Over time it can flatten biting edges, chip enamel and leave the jaw sore in the morning. Dr. Bowcutt looks for these signs at each exam, and a custom appliance worn at night can protect the teeth from further wear.
Do you remove wisdom teeth in the office?
Yes, Dr. Bowcutt removes wisdom teeth in our office, including surgical extractions. Ultra-low-dose CBCT 3D imaging helps him see how each tooth sits in the jaw before the procedure. IV sedation is available for oral surgery, and anyone who chooses it must arrange a ride home afterward.
How much extra time should I allow at rush hour?
Allow a few extra minutes beyond the usual 6-minute drive, since rush hour adds time on any road. The whole route stays on Aster Pass, Old Mill Rd and S Lakeline Blvd, so you never merge onto RM 620, US 183 or a toll road. If you are running late, calling ahead lets our team adjust the schedule where possible.
Will my insurance help pay for braces?
That depends on your specific plan, and our team will check your benefits for you. We work with many dental insurance companies and help with claims, so you know what to expect before treatment starts. For any remaining balance, CareCredit financing can spread the cost into monthly payments, and new patients can begin with a complimentary clear aligner consultation.
